VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

On behalf of the Lazy Bear Board of Directors, we would like to thank you very much for volunteering at Lazy Bear Weekend. Lazy Bear simply could not happen without the generous support and hard work from our volunteers.

As a Lazy Bear Weekend volunteer, you will receive a Volunteer t-shirt, 1 bear tag and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages during the shift(s) that you work. You'll be required to wear your tag during each shift you work, and we request that you wear your t-shirt, as well.

Our goal is to make your volunteer experience as fun and enjoyable as possible. Please take a few moments to review the general information, which includes our rules and guidelines for volunteering at Lazy Bear Weekend-15.

  1. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of two (2) shifts which average 4 hours each. We use Volunteer Spot.com where you can sign up directly for the shifts and events that you want to work
  2. LBW does not provide lodging for volunteers (wish we could!)
  3. Each event will have a Team Captain, who will check you in and provide a brief orientation to your event and duties when you arrive for your shift. If questions, issues or concerns arise during your shift, your Team Captain can assist you. A list of team captains will be available on the Lazy Bear Website prior to the event. An additional copy will be available at the 2011 Lazy Bear Headquarters at the Sonoma Nesting Company on Main Street in Guerneville.
  4. Be prompt: Plan to arrive for your shift at least 5 minutes before the actual start time. We do not have the luxury of having 'back-ups' if you are late. If you are going to be late or are unable to report for your shift, contact your Team Captain as soon as possible.
  5. Be flexible: occasionally volunteers are asked to assist with duties other than what they are assigned to during their shift.
  6. SMILE, be friendly and helpful. More likely than not, you will be interacting directly with Lazy Bear Weekend guests. As such, your interactions with guests reflect directly back to the organization.
  7. Know what you don't know. As a volunteer, you'll be asked a LOT of questions by our guests. And while you're first inclination will be to answer every one, we don't expect you to know everything that's going on during LBW. If you're asked a question you're unsure about, please refer the guest to your Team Captain or to the Lazy Bear Headquarters.
  8. Smoking, drinking alcohol or drug use is strictly prohibited during your shift time. Additionally, remember that Lazy Bear Weekend has a zero-tolerance policy on recreational drug use throughout the weekend.
  9. At the end of the day, Lazy Bear Weekend is about raising much-needed funds for non-profit organizations. Giving away free admission, food, beverages, raffle tickets, event tickets, merchandise or other material of value which is the property of the Lazy Bear Fund is considered a form of theft and will be treated as such.
  10. Finally, if you have an interest in being a TEAM CAPTAIN, please send email to: xdelmar1@aol.com with the words 'Team Captain' in the subject line.

Lazy Bear Weekend has always been very proud of our volunteer force, which has been instrumental in allowing us to put the "FUN" in Northern California largest FUNdraising weekend for the last fourteen years. Remember that it's your hard work and participation that will directly benefit health and health-oriented organizations throughout the region. We literally couldn't do it without you.
